Your journey
From first visit to full recovery.
Every stage of care, explained.
Every patient has their own clinical history. The pathway built together is not a rigid protocol, but a journey articulated in clear stages — each oriented toward a precise goal: the correct diagnosis, the appropriate therapy, full recovery.
- 01
First visit
The specialist consultation includes an in-depth medical history, physical examination and review of available clinical documentation. At the end of the appointment, a personalised diagnostic plan is defined together, or, if the diagnosis is already established, the most appropriate therapeutic options are discussed directly.
- 02
Diagnostics and planning
When necessary, targeted imaging examinations are prescribed — MRI, CT scan, musculoskeletal ultrasound, weight-bearing or functional X-rays. Results are interpreted at a second appointment, where the clinical picture is completed and the most appropriate therapeutic strategy for the case is defined.
- 03
Therapeutic proposal
Prof. Colao presents the available options, explaining the advantages, limitations and recovery times of each: conservative approach (physiotherapy, infiltrations, pharmacological therapy), regenerative medicine with PRP or stem cells, or surgical intervention. The final decision is always shared with the patient, with ample space for questions and clarification.
- 04
Treatment
Conservative or regenerative therapy is performed on an outpatient or day-hospital basis. Surgical intervention, when indicated, is scheduled at one of the affiliated facilities — Villa Donatello (Florence), Villa Benedetta (Rome), Villa Torri Hospital (Bologna) or Casa di Cura Ulivella e Glicini (Florence). Prof. Colao is personally present at every stage of the surgical pathway.
- 05
Recovery and follow-up
A personalised physiotherapy protocol guides functional recovery from the very first days. Scheduled outpatient check-ups — at short, medium and long term — monitor healing, functional progress and return to daily or sporting activities. At any stage of the pathway it is possible to contact the practice with questions or for clinical updates.
